Betfair Sponsors London Stock Exchange Cricket Club

Betfair has announced it will be sponsoring the London Stock Exchange Cricket Club, because the stock exchange was the model on which the betting exchange was based. The company, which is currently floating on the exchange itself, has signed a year’s agreement with the club as they embark on their tour of Scotland where they will play a series of matches against the Scottish financial community and the MCC. Caspar Hill, Betfair’s UK PR Manager, said, “The inspiration behind Betfair was the stock exchange and therefore it seems wholly appropriate that Betfair should sponsor the S.E.C.C. We wish them luck on their forthcoming tour.” The S.E.C.C is open to anyone who is a member of the London Stock Exchange. The traditional summer showpiece is the Stock Exchange v Lloyds game on August 12th.
