WSOP 2007 Update
The talk of the tournament though has been Phil Hellmuth’s record-breaking 11th WSOP bracelet, which was presented to him by Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan after he won Event #15, the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
Hellmuth became the first person in history to win 11 WSOP bracelets, and the fact that he did it in the second biggest tournament of the 2007 WSOP, against a field of 2,627 competitors, makes it all the more impressive.
Another man impressing the poker world was Allen Cunnigham, who won his fifth WSOP bracelet and his third in consecutive years, making him one of only five players to have achieved that milestone. Doing it in the current era with the now enormous fields makes his achievement stand head and shoulders above those who share his record.
Below is the list of winners since Friday:
Event 10 - $2,000 NL HE - 1,532 players - William Durkee V – first prize: $566,916
Event 11 - $5,000 7 Card Stud Championship – 180 players - Chris Reslock - $258,453
