American gamblers are said to account for HALF the annual revenue of the online gambling industry, and industry leaders have often called for the pastime to be legalised so they can pay tax to the American government.

But the bills before the house seek to ban online gambling, backed by support from conservative and religious groups. It is expected to go before the house on Wednesday next week.
