UK ‘Super Casino’ shortlist revealed
Of 27 applications for a regional casino license (which will permit authorities to sanction the building of a super casino) just eight made it through to the next stage of considerations.
Those were Blackpool, Glasgow, the Millennium Dome, Manchester, Wembley Stadium, Cardiff and Newcastle upon Tyne. The news will come a s a major blow to such cities as Birmingham and Coventry, which had both professed confidence at making the shortlist.
But even for favourites Blackpool and Glasgow, as well as the other six, there is still a long way to go. Only one of the eight bids shortlisted will end up with a license for a super casino at the end of the process, so even for a gambler, the odds are not great.
