With the UK gambling industry set to expand dramatically in the aftermath of the Gambling Act 2005, which allowed for a huge increase in the number of casino licenses that could be granted each year, the new guidelines released on Monday will be essential reading for the many overseas gambling operators planning to expand their businesses into the UK.
Peter Dean, chairman of the Gambling Commission, said: “Britain's gambling laws are undergoing wholesale reform and from September next year all operators must be licensed by the Gambling Commission.”
Dean stressed that the emphasis was on protecting the vulnerable, keeping out crime, and ensuring that gambling was fair and above board.
