Slip of a pen could cost $5.8 million

The vendor accidentally made out casino coupons for $525 instead of the usual $15 - $20, according to a casino spokesman.

Still, for every down there is an up, and Harrah’s customers can testify to that. The casino has agreed to honour the coupons after initial attempts to use them were rebuffed by casino employees and a complaints hailstorm hit the Illinois Gaming Board.

“There were a lot of angry patrons,” said Gene O’Shea, a Harrah’s spokesman.

It remains to be seen how much the casino will actually lose - but one can't help wondering how many of those early 'angry' customers have since thrown their coupons away. They might just get a little angrier to find out the latest news if so
