Singapore chooses Las Vegas Sands
The decision was made by a panel of government ministers, who choose Las Vegas Sands, the world’s largest casino operator, from a shortlist of four consortia. The unsuccessful candidates included Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., and MGM Mirage.
Las Vegas Sands will have a 30-year concession to operate a casino in a 20.6 hectare location specified by the government. The casino is expected to cost around $3 billion, making it one of the most expensive casinos ever constructed.
The Vegas based company already operates the famous Venetian Hotel Casino as well as a successful casino in Macau, in China.
