A spokesperson for the council said it would be waiting to receive the government’s guidelines on submitting a bid for on of the new casinos.
"It is our intention to make a strong case for Sheffield to be considered as a pilot location so that we can gain from the regeneration benefits of such a development."
All councils must have their proposals in by March 31st this year.
