Senior Citizens convicted of running gambling ring
Verlin Grills, 68, and William Rogers, 71, who are both from Tennessee were arrested after an undercover sting operation by the Virginia State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
The operation had been ongoing for ‘months’ and involved undercover agents attending poker games in order to gather information on the pair.
Grills received a two-year suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay $6,189 in costs to the state. Rogers was given a lesser one-year suspended prison sentence, but was ordered to pay $17,884 to the state.
