Recession Doesn’t Slow Online Gambling
While companies and people try to stabilize and figure out how to deal with the global recession, the online gambling world doesn’t understand what all the commotion is about. As businesses are laying off and people are retiring later and later, the online casino world continues to thrive despite the current economic state.
According to the Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC) report, online gambling is not only prospering, but is actually growing in economic status. The GBGC Interactive Gambling Report details just how well the online casino world is doing during these financially viable times.
According to the report, it
showed 2008 being the most profitable year to date, with the online
gaming world exceeding the $20 billion mark in profits. In addition,
experts correlate this growth to the recession. With more and more people
staying home and not spending money on outside entertainment, such as
movies and going out for dinner, more and more people turn to online
gambling as their entertainment; its relatively cheap and highly convenient.
Although the large number of
gross revenues is surprising, the future of the industry may be even
more astonishing. Recently, France opened its arms to online casinos
originating outside their country, and the US might do the same soon.
