The online payments processing company had pulled out of the casino market last year, amid concerns over legalities in the US, but is now set to make a welcome return to the industry.

PayPal had stopped accepting gambling related transactions, much to the disappointment of the whole of the gaming industry, but is now allowing UK customers to use its services to withdraw and pay in funds to and from online casinos again. This will be a relief for online gamblers who had come to rely on PayPal’s efficient and secure service. 

The laws look set to change soon in the US and there are a few other companies that are looking at making a return to the gambling market across the pond, most notably PartyGaming, the largest online gaming company in the world. The online casino, bingo and poker giant recently settled its legal dispute with the US, clearing the way for discussions should online gambling become regulated there.

The first online casino to be accepted into PayPal’s fold again is trusted gambling stalwart, Ladbrokes.  The second online casino given the green light has been 32Red, perhaps due to its exemplar customer service record.

Many companies had tried to emulate the successes of PayPal in offering payment processing services but none had come close to matching the popularity of PayPal as a payment method. PayPal currently allows customers to send money to and from businesses and individuals quickly and easily, while keeping their own personal and banking details protected.

While Europe’s online gambling industry gets ironed out, it is likely that many more online casinos will be able to offer PayPal’s services once more again very soon. However, it is likely that only the most well known and trusted online casinos will be welcomed back by PayPal while the market remains relatively unstable.

Although PayPal is venturing back into the online gaming spotlight slowly and cautiously, one casino at a time, the news that the payment processing leader is returning at all has been welcomed with a sigh of relief by online casinos and customers alike.
