The advert depicted Jesus sitting behind a pile of gambling chips, in a pastiche of Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’.

Jesus was surrounded by other card-playing Apostles, and the advert featured the tagline: “There’s a place for fun and games.”

Despite Paddy Power’s protests that the ad was intended to be amusing and not offensive, the company accepted that some people might take exception to the campaign, and decided to withdraw it.
