Responsible Gambling Awareness Day A Success
Yesterday, the online gambling industry pulled
together to make October 19 Responsible Gambling Awareness Day. Along with
gambling associations like the Remote Gambling Associate (RGA) and GamCare, the
industry pushed the promotion of knowledge about the safety precautions taken
to ensure the safety and privacy of their clients at online casinos.
The RGA used the date to release their new promotional video that demonstrates exactly how the online gambling industry stays true to their promise of responsible gambling. In this video, online casino operators reveal the technology that they use to protect their customers from identity fraud, gambling addiction and underage gambling. The RGA’s CEO, Clive Hawkswood stated that the goal of the video was to provide “insight into how operators ensure that for the vast majority, gambling remains a safe and harmless leisure activity”.
The RGA has also donated £10 000 to Gambling Therapy, a support centre to help those who have been affected by gambling addiction. Their donation will be put towards a new call centre, which will give the company the ability to offer 24 hour support.
Gambling Awareness Day was also host to GamCare’s annual conference, at which the association announced its new brand ambassador: boxing champion Chris Eubank. He brings personal experience with problem gambling to the table and believes his support for the cause will be beneficial to GamCare.
Gambling operators also showed their support for the cause. A large UK gaming company helped to sponsor the event, to show that operators are mindful of promoting responsible gambling awareness every day of the year.
