Kahnawake-licensed online poker room TitanPoker.com revealed that over 1,400 players took part in the inaugural event for the third instalment of its European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) this week.

The latest edition of the ECOOP casino tournament began on Monday with 1,420 players competing in a no-limit Texas hold’em tournament offering a total prize pool of $284,000, which was well in excess of the $250,000 promised by TitanPoker.com and the iPoker Network. In the end, virtual player ‘IamBetterThanThou’ took home $59,640 and a coveted ECOOP bracelet for his first place finish.

The ECOOP is a two-week series of online poker tournaments offering a guaranteed prize fund of $4.15 million and culminates in the $1.5 million Main Event on December 7. Players can take part by participating in daily qualifying satellite tournaments at TitanPoker.com in a wide variety of poker variations including Texas no-limit hold'em, limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha and Omaha hi/lo with buy-in amounts varying in order to suit every player's budget.

The very first ECOOP was staged in December of last year and saw casino players compete over ten days for their share of $2.5 million in cash. The second instalment of the ECOOP was also a ten-day event run in May that saw a total guaranteed prize fund of $3.6 million.

TitanPoker.com revealed that it took the decision to extend the third series of the ECOOP to 14 days in order to let online casino players further showcase their skills in return for larger prizes.
