MP’s re-iterate call for more ‘super casinos’
Government backbenchers yesterday claimed it would not be possible to measure the costs and benefits of super casinos if just one such casino were built.
Labour MP Graham Stringer was one such backbencher; he said: “You cannot test the social impact in just once place. Seaside towns are very different to a city, rural areas are different to towns.”
Already numerous cities and towns have lodged bids to host the super casino, and a total of 40 councils are expected to lodge bids in time for the government set deadline.
Consequently many council leaders, and now MP’s, are asking that the number of super casinos permitted be increased.
The current frontrunners to win the government’s approval are believed to be Glasgow, Blackpool, London’s Millennium Dome and Manchester.
