Since Microgaming announced the date of its popular Grand Slam of Slots tournament on July 1, the internet has been abuzz with chatter over the massive event. Over the past couple of months, all of Microgaming’s licensees have been offering free entry into the tournament with unique promotions and small competitions. With such popular online casinos as Platinum Play, Ladbrokes and 32Red handing out entries, over 9000 free seats have been awarded to players for this year’s event.

Those who have yet to win a seat need not fret; players who have not qualified for free seats will be able to buy one for £150. With a prize pool of over £1.5 million, the buy-in cost is hardly a drop in the bucket. Of this pool, the first place winner will walk away with £1 million. Making history, this year’s Grand Slam of Slots is the first online slots tournament to offer £1 million to a single winner.

The rest of the pool will be awarded to nearly £500 other players. Second place will take home £50 000 while fifth place will earn £7500. All players from 251st place to 450th place will also take home prizes of £100. Players who finish at the bottom of the leader board will also be able to win great prizes, as Microgaming is giving away £100 to players at designated positions, such as 8328th.

On October 22, 2009, the Grand Slam of Slots will begin, running for nine days until November 2. Spots are still available, so don’t miss out!
