As the first and only black American to lead a property on the Las Vegas strip Creighton is something of a trailblazer and apart from his achievements with the New-York New-York Creighton is credited in large part for helping to establish the gaming industry in Mississippi.

Upon receiving the ward Creighton said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be counted among the luminaries who comprise the Trumpet Awards' list of achievers. This award is a nod to the growing presence of African Americans in the gaming industry.”
