Man sentenced for leaving 82-year-old mother on pavement outside casino
Andrew Hawkins was charged in March last year for neglecting his dependent mother after the police were called to the Majestic Star Casino along Lake Michigan. Staff at the casino had noticed that Mrs Hawkins had been sitting in the cold for hours on end.
According to authorities it is possible the woman had been sat outside in the cold for up to 15 hours, while Hawkins was inside the casino gambling. His mother had to be taken to hospital afterwards for treatment.
