Dutch Minister Makes Online Gambling Platform

Currently, the Dutch are implanting strict gambling laws after taking a few notes from the existing situation in the United States. As the US goes through a change in governmental power, their online gambling laws are in limbo, but that hasn’t stopped the Dutch government from making online gambling a major issue.

Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin has exposed his plan to take serious and swift action against those parties involved in illegal online gaming activity and promises those involved will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, including banks used to process transactions.

The Minister’s plan is similar to the current Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the United States. The current US law solely puts the burden of policing and monitoring Internet gambling on financial institutions, despite the fact that they are not equipped to do so.

However, here is where the Dutch situation differs from that in the US. Dutch Internet gambling laws are clearly defined and they offer legalized online gambling and is merely targeting those sites which are operating illegally and outside the realm of the defined laws.

Minister Ballin has made his mission clear; he plans to attack not only foreign companies but any illegal Internet gambling operation that is currently running in the Netherlands. Furthermore, he sent a stern warning to banks, that they will be held responsible for illegal dealings and will be prosecuted.
