Dome Casino already under construction despite no casino license
The Casino Advisory Panel has short listed eight local authorities to be considered for the UK’s first super casino license and is due to take further evidence and consultations from next Tuesday.
But it has come to attention that Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) has already begun construction on the Millennium Dome site, sparking rumours that they have been tipped off about their chances of winning the license. AEG has already built the casinos floor, roof and walls, prompting the shadow culture secretary Hugo Swire to comment: “Many people are now asking why would AEG take such a financial risk and actually begin construction of the casino unless they had received assurances that they would be successful in the bidding process.”
AEG has also issued some veiled threats to the Casino Advisory Panel hinting that it would pull out of all other planned development of the Millennium Dome area if it did not win the license.
