Coventry Casino could generate 2000 jobs
The area where Coventry City Council are bidding to have the casino is in the bottom 2% of the UK’s most deprived wards, according to council leader Ken Taylor. He claimed the casino license could change the face of Coventry.
“Coventry and other areas of the country have a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a step change in their local economies,” said Taylor.
He also said Coventry was the “obvious choice” for the pilot casino due to the nature of its available site.
The casino would also offer hope to thousands of workers expected to lose their jobs at the Peugeot plant, which is due to close in the summer of 2007.
