Online Casino Commercial Too Controversial to Remain Live
The ever popular online casino Ladbrokes.com has recently had one of their newest advertisements taken off the air. While advertising for online casino is much more popular in other parts of the world than it is in north America, this ad simply rubbed some of the viewers the wrong way.
The ad was removed and banned by the ASA after a member of society said that the commercial indicated that you were not a strong member of a community unless you were a gambler. The person went on to say that he was personally offended by this ad and thought that they were not sending the right message to the general public.
The ad itself features a person diving with sharks and taking risks and then goes on to say that the reward is greater for gambling online. The online casino still believes that their commercial was only comical in nature and was surely not intended to offend anyone at all.
No matter what the company is saying about being regulated in terms of what is and is not appropriate to air, they are in strong opinion that this ad simply did no wrong. The ASA begs to differ and has fully banned the ad and continues to say that it was inappropriate in the message that it was sending to the people that were not gamblers that happened to catch the commercial on public television.
Ladbrokes.com will continue to advertise using the television channel but will likely have to tame their sense of humour for at least the next little while until the topic is not as heated as it is now
