Casinos see immediate results after new rule changes

The 24-hour rule stipulated that punters must become members of a casino at least 24 hours before they wished to enter the establishment. This put many would be casual punters off going to casinos, as if they were not able to go on the spur of the moment they may not go at all.

It should therefore be no surprise that the removal of the rule (under the Gambling Act 2005) has had an immediate and positive effect on the casino industry.

According to the casino giant Stanley Leisure the rule change has led to an increase in casino attendance by over 17 percent across its 40 provincial casinos. As a result Stanley Leisure said it expects to meet its profit forecasts of £36-£38 million for 2005.
