The Flyde College in, where else, Blackpool, has built its own mini-casino in the seaside resort, which it will use to train prospective employees in the gaming industry.
Blackpool is currently earmarked as the favourite to win government approval for a Las Vegas style super-casino, permitted under the new UK gambling laws.
Students attending the college will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills suitable for the casino industry, such as being a croupier, operating a blackjack wheel, and running other table games such as craps and blackjack. Students can also take courses in casino management, or slot machine engineering.
Blackpool Borough Council, which supports the scheme, has drawn up a $.4 billion regeneration plan, including five new super-casinos.
