Online casino software developers live in a competitive and heated market, always trying to one up their competition. Such is the case with the recent deal signed by Playtech, one of the largest online casino software developers. Playtech, along with Cryptologic are two of the largest software developers, providing software for the majority of online casinos. 

Currently, Cryptologic has an exclusive deal with comic book giant Marvel that runs through 2010, but that deal has been extended, with another software developer. Playtech signed a deal with Marvel to develop comic book themed casino games, based on the popular comic book characters X-Men, The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man.  

“This agreement is a major stepping stone for Playtech, as it will greatly extend the commercial appeal and cross-selling opportunities of our product,” said Mor Weizer, CEO of Playtech.  

The new agreement between Playtech and Marvel may cause some bad blood with Cryptologic. The competition is going to get heated and that may be a good thing. It will force both Cryptologic and Playtech to develop new and innovative games, constantly one upping each other. On the flip side, this could severely hurt the Cryptologic brand by always having to compete with Playtech.
