ASA Bans Casino Ad

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), a UK based organization ensuring casino ads are appropriate and specific regulations were being conformed to has announced the ban of another online casino advertisement. Tombola Bingo is the latest casino to feel the wrath of the ASA. The advertisement was lifted by the ASA despite arguments from Tombola Bingo that they had notified the government of the contents and specific of the ad.

Several ads have been lifted for a number of reasons as of late by the ASA. The ASA has lifted ads from various casinos due to the explicit nature for children; others were banned for their attempt at different uses to promote problem gambling.

The major complaint against the Tombola Bingo casino ad was the fact that there was a playground in the advertisement and this was appealing to children. A major concern that the ASA has are ads geared towards children and specifics that may entice children. For that reason the ad was lifted, however Tombola Bingo is arguing that they alerted the government of the contents of the ad. Their argument is a lost cause and the ad is still being prohibited.

When the ASA was first introduced they came down hard on online casinos. Feeling they needed to make their voice heard and show the online casino industry they meant business. However, in the recent past, they have come under scrutiny for coming down to harsh on casino advertisements, the Tombola Bingo ad is the most recent argument for this.
