Troubled Online Casino Golden Lounge acquired by 32Red
The troubled casino has been a source of anxiety for many frustrated and patient players who have been struggling to withdraw money. Now that 32Red Casino has taken the faltering casino over, the prospects for these players look much better.
Up until the takeover, the Golden Lounge Casino enjoyed the dubious reputation of being voted the worst online casino in 2009 – despite being powered by Microgaming. The situation arose due to many complaints from its players and the online gaming community with regard to bad player service, questionable application of T&Cs, awful communication with mediators, stalled winnings and unfairly locked accounts.
32Red recently took over the Nedplay casino having figured out that the cheapest way to acquire new customers is to buy brands.
According to the terms of the deal, 32Red will acquire the player database, software agreements, the domain names and other intellectual property of Golden Lounge, for a nominal consideration. Combined with the Nedplay buy, the only liabilities assumed by 32Red relate to player balances which amount to £115,000.
“Both deals were compelling and similar in many ways and we expect to be able to integrate both casinos smoothly and quickly into our platform,” said 32Red CEO Ed Ware. “At this stage, it is too early to assess whether the acquisitions will be earnings enhancing in 2010, but they are a good fit as both casinos have historically focused on European territories away from the UK, whereas 32Red continues to be a UK-centric brand.
“We will now apply our award-winning levels of player support, operational discipline and marketing to both brands in the coming months, ahead of evaluating the total number of brands operated by 32Red Plc. The sector continues to evolve quickly and 32Red remain committed to capitalising on suitable opportunities that may present themselves,” said Ware.
