Microgaming unveils new Dark Knight slot

Microgaming has rolled out its long-awaited new video slot The Dark Knight Rises, based on the final blockbuster film in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman triology.

Produced under licence from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros, The Dark Knight Rises is a five-reel, 243 ways-to-win video slot which features clips from the blockbuster movie and a host of new features which build on last summer’s highly successful The Dark Knight slot release.

A “symbol scramble” which rearranges symbols to create the best possible winning combination, while Batman and supervillain Bane engage in epic fights to accumulate free spins and multipliers, with players able to redeem the rewards of either combatant by triggering the free spins feature.

The brand new blockbuster slot is now available on licensee operators’ download, Flash and Quickfire platforms, with Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever crediting the “incredible job” by his games development team. “The slot fully embraces the Batman brand and pays justice to the film”, he said.

The Dark Knight Rises, unleashed in cinemas in July 2012, went on to become the third highest grossing film of 2012 and the ninth highest of all time, eventually taking in excess of US$1bn in box office receipts worldwide.

Batman made his first appearance in DC Comics back in 1939, and is now featured in 15 monthly comic books from DC that are translated in 30 different languages and distributed in over 60 countries.
