MPN adds new mini-game to fast-fold Blaze Poker

The MPN, owned by Microgaming, has added an innovative new mini-game to to its fast-fold poker variant, Blaze Poker.

The Blazing Cannons mini-game launches when a player wins 20 raked hands on Blaze, offering them the chance to win up to €100 in cash by firing a blazing poker chip from a cannon at a house of cards topped by golden suit tokens, the aim being to bring down as many as possible.

Bringing down the golden suit tokens is far from straightforward however, as players will also find a range of obstacles in their way, including birds, aliens and thunderstorms.

But any money that players win from Blazing Cannon will be added to their chip stack so they have it in play for their next hand.

The Isle of Man-based software supplier said it expected the new game to deliver thousands of prizes every month across its network of fast-fold poker licensees, which include Ladbrokes, 32Red, BetVictor and Unibet.

Microgaming’s head of network games, Lydia Melton said the online poker industry had never seen this type of game feature before, saying it would “bring an element of fun and surprise to Blaze Poker.”

Betsson’s head of poker Simon Lindzen said the company had been “extremely excited” when its saw the “unique” new game. “[P]layers are going to love it.”

Blaze Poker launched at Ladbrokes in May last year, offering players the chance to play up to 300 hands per hour in cash games, moving them to a new table with new cards whenever they fold a hand. The Isle of Man-based supplier followed up with a mobile version in September.

Under head of network games Melton, Microgaming has undertaken a radical overhaul of its poker platform, starting with a re-architecture of the poker platform in January 2010, following this up with a new Flash client, anonymous tables, its True Value rake allocation method aimed at rewarding rooms for acquiring and reactivating casual net depositing players, and a new lobby.

It rebranded from the Microgaming Poker Network to the MPN in December 2012.

Poker rooms on the network will be running a Blaze Cash Drop from tomorrow until 6 August, with €10 being dropped every five minutes at random on a 6-max Blaze cash table, with a total of €20,000 ultimately being distributed to Blaze players across the network.
