The 32Red brand will be appearing on not one but two shirts in the English Football League next season, after the online casino specialist signed deals with Crawley Town and Newport County.
The sponsorships effectively replace 32Red’s successful association with English Premier League Swansea City, for which it received £950,000 in compensation in March following an early and amicable end to the deal.
Crawley Town (pictured above) and Newport currently ply their trade in the third and fourth tier respectively of the English Football League system.
32Red’s head of marketing Mark Quayle said the company was “delighted” to be backing Crawley as they entered their second season in League One, highlighting the success of Aston Villa and Swansea while 32Red was their sponsor, the Swans gaining promotion and staying in the Premier League.
“We’re looking to extend our reach to the roots of football”, said Quayle, who added that he hoped 32Red’s run of being a ‘lucky sponsor’ continued.
Crawley’s commercial manager Ewan Dunlop called the deal “tremendous”, having attracted a high-profile brand with a strong track record of working successfully alongside football clubs.
Dave Boddy, CEO of League Two club Newport County which announced its partnership with 32Red on Monday, called the deal “another massive step forward”, while 32Red’s Quayle added: “The Exiles are one of those clubs that caught our eye when looking for potential deals.”
The 32Red brand will however not appear on Newport County children’s replica kits due to betting ad regulations, with Newport’s adopted charity of Dreams & Wishes appearing instead.
In addition to its successful four-year shirt tie with recently crowned Capital One Cup champions Swansea from 2009 to 2013, the online casino specialist also took on a potentially risky and costly sponsorship of Aston Villa from 2006 to 2008, working hard with the club to realise the benefits of the sponsorship on both sides of the equation.
