The online gambling arm of US casino giant Caesars has added to its burgeoning social gaming business by clinching a deal for one of Facebook’s leading bingo apps, Bingo Blitz.
Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE), part owned by its parent company’s land-based casino partner Rock Gaming, did not disclose the price agreed for California-based Buffalo Studios.
CIE chief executive Mitch Garber (pictured) said the acquisition of Bingo Blitz offered his company the “unique opportunity… to grow our market share across all interactive platforms.”
Bingo Blitz is the second most popular bingo app on Facebook, according to AppData, with 830,000 daily active users and 2.7 million monthly actives, putting it just behind the newer Bingo Bash. Buffalo Studios also owns and operates the Bingo Rush iPhone app.
Buffalo Studios and its 74 employees will become a division of its Playtika subsidiary, the operator of the Slotomania Facebook slots business Caesars acquired for approximately US$220m in January last year.
World Series of Poker owner CIE also operates real money online gambling under the WSOP and Caesars brands in the UK, and under the WSOP banner in France, on software provided by 888, Gamesys and Barriere. CIE received a licence for a WSOP site in Nevada from state regulators last month, set to launch this spring once software partner 888 gains approval.
