Paddy Power has launched a version of its Premier League football betting app to run on Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system.
The free app for Windows 8 and its tablet-focused offshoot Windows RT offers Premier League match odds straight from the start screen, latest scores, Premier League table with outright prices, an “outrights” section offering the latest prices on relegation and top goalscorer, as well as stats and individual team pages.
The app, now available for download from the Windows Store, also takes advantage of Microsoft’s new Snap View technology, which allows the user to run two apps simultaneously on the one screen.
Paddy Power’s launch of its Premier League app for Windows 8, only released by Microsoft on Friday, follows that of its Premier League App for the iPhone last month, which uses integrated TVTak technology to allow users to bet on matches they are watching on TV simply by pointing the phone’s camera at the screen.
The London-listed company’s last set of annual results showed that the operator continued to lead its peers in mobile betting, including tablets. Mobile turnover was up 123% to €365m in the six months to 30 June, with 55% of sportsbook customers transacting via mobile in June, generating 41% of sportsbook turnover.
Profit from Paddy’s flagship online division however lagged behind the growth in top-line revenues, rising just 1% to €48.5m as the company reinvested heavily in the business with a view to ensuring continued growth, which included substantial investment in development of new standalone mobile casino and brand Roller, which launched late last month complete with a version tailored tailored to Apple’s iPad.
The company was however forced to withdraw an augmented reality app which used Blippar technology to bring the Queen’s face to life on £10 notes, after the Bank of England claimed it breached the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act.
