Manchested United betting partner bwin has partnered with sports content provider SPORTFIVE AGENCY to bring football fans free live streams of the qualifying matches for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
The Qualifiers 2014 – Road To Brazil package will deliver 157 live streams plus highlights through free-to-download native apps for iPhones, iPads and Android-powered mobile devices as well as via a number of internet platforms including YouTube, Facebook and bwin.com. The deal also includes in-stadia branding.
A number of tonight’s European qualifiers will be available via the service, although it’s worth noting live streams won’t be available in the home or away countries of the nations competing, ostensibly to safeguard domestic broadcasting rights.
Marco Falchetto, bwin’s group sports director, said the betting and gaming company’s aim was to deliver the best content and betting experience for its customers: “SPORTFIVE’s innovative new apps deliver on that promise”.
bwin said the deal with SPORTFIVE formed part of its burgeoning digital sponsorship strategy, whereby the company aimed to engage with sports fans using premium content across online, mobile and social media platforms.
The European online sports betting giant announced at the official launch of its three-year betting partnership with Manchester United in August that it would be launching co-branded social gaming products “in countries that do not yet allow real-money online sports betting”.
The bwin.party-owned sports betting brand also has high-profile partnerships with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, although its circa €16m-a-year shirt sponsorship deal with the Spanish La Liga champions is due to expire next summer, with airline Emirates rumoured to be preparing to step into the breach with an improved deal.
