inks Nordeus social betting deal is to develop a social sports betting application with the company behind leading football management game Top Eleven.

Belgrade-based Nordeus’ first-ever game, Top Eleven has six million Facebook users across web, Android and Apple’s iOS platforms and “is the most played online sports game in the World”, according to this morning. In Russia, the game is available on 100 million-strong Russian social network Odnoklassniki, one of the two leaders in a market where Facebook is not the main social platform. co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger said that Nordeus had demonstrated the strong demand for social sports games through the global success of Top Eleven.

“We will leverage our unrivalled sports brand and products as well as our online betting and gaming expertise. Nordeus and are two European companies with global footprints and share an aspiration to become clear leaders in social sports gaming.”

PartyPoker owner announced plans in May to roll out a social sports betting, as well as casino, poker and bingo applications over the next two years, as part of a US$50m investment in establishing a standalone social gaming business, Win. The company revealed last month that flagship sports betting brand bwin is to launch co-branded social gaming products with Manchester United “in countries that do not yet allow real-money online sports betting”, it announced yesterday. Win, based in Eastern Europe, is headed by former Mytopia and Amuso CEO Barak Rabinowitz.

Founded in March 2010 by three ex-Microsoft engineers, Branko Milutinovic, Ivan Stojisavljevic and Milan Jovovic, Nordeus won the award for Best Gaming Startup at the Europas 2011, which recognise the best new tech start-ups in Europe.

Milutinovic, CEO of Nordeus, said that since the success of Top Eleven, the company had been seeking the right partner with which to tap into “the huge opportunity for social sports betting games”.  He said the company was “thrilled” to be working with on this project, “market leader in online sports betting and one of the most known brands in sports.”
