An anonymous businessman from the Midlands won £2.6m from one 25p spin in Ladbrokes’ online casino yesterday, the biggest ever single win in the history of the bookmaker.
The punter hit the jackpot while playing the Microgaming-produced Mega Moolah slot in the early hours of yesterday morning, Ladbrokes revealed.
Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams said: “We’ve never known a luckier punter. It is a truly incredible win.”
The win follows last month’s £1.3m win by Ladbrokes Bingo player Lisa Potter on the Clover Rollover game, off a £5 stake.
Yesterday’s pay-out is not however the largest by a player on the Mega Moolah slot on Microgaming’s Progressive Jackpot Network. That accolade goes to Georgios M, a small business owner from Greece, who won €6.37m while playing the game at the River Belle Casino in May 2009.
The UK’s biggest-ever progressive slots jackpot was won by an anonymous Scottish player at Betfred in February, scooping £5.1 million on Beach Life slots after placing a bet of just £1.
The world record online slots jackpot win, as confirmed by Guinness World Records, was €11.7m, landed by a 20-year-old Norwegian man last September playing Scandinavian games provider Net Entertainment’s Mega Fortune slot on the Betsson website.
