Caliente and Playtech to launch online gaming in South America

Playtech, which provides games for leading online casinos such as Bet365, has signed a deal with Mexico’s largest bricks ‘n’ mortar gaming operator Grupo Caliente.

Caliente operates over 90 land-based venues across Mexico and Central and South America, including casinos and bingo halls, VLTs, sports betting, live greyhound racing and simulcast horse racing.

Playtech will be providing the software for the 100-year-old operator’s move into the online gaming market, and the deal includes its online table and slot games as well as branded games.

London-listed Playtech this morning said the new games would be licensed under Mexican gaming regulations, and would be offered not just in in Mexico but also in other Latam countries. The terms of the agreement will allow the offering to be expanded into other South American markets.

Playtech CEO Mor Weizer said the company was “delighted” to have secured this agreement with one of Latin America’s largest and most respected gaming operators, which would diversify its footprint beyond its core markets in Europe and Asia. “We are very excited about this project and committed to making it a great success.”

Caliente’s CEO Eduardo Hernández added: ” With our combined expertise and commitment to excellence, we will be able to fully expand into Latin American regulated markets.”
